Revit Architecture Foundations

Building projects are beginning to demand the use of Building Information Modeling. Revit Architecture forms the basis for a true BIM solution. The Foundations course examines the basic dfferences between modeling in Revit and standard CAD documentation. The student is then taken through the basics of an entire Revit project and shown the capabilities of the Revit model. At the end of the course, the student will be able to start work on a Revit project or become a useful member of a Revit project team.

Who should take this course?
Architects, architectural technicians, designers, project managers who want to gain a basic understanding of BIM with Revit.

Who should not take this course?
CAD users who want to replace their current CAD program with Revit. Revit is more than a CAD application; it is the core of a true Building Information Modeling direction and this course sets the foundation for its many benefits.

Prerequisites:
None, although basic computer application knowledge is a benefit. In addition, knowledge of building technology and construction is valuable.

What you should expect after taking this course:
Participate on a Revit project team; understand the potential and functionality of the Revit platform.

Follow-up:
As part of a complete Revit implementation, the foundations course should be followed up by work on a project and eventually in-depth training based on the needs of that project

Revit Architecture In-Depth
Revit Focused Training Sessions

As part of Summit Technologies’ structured implementation process we have developed a series of modules designed to provide training to facilitate creation and execution of specific deliverables for various project stages. These sessions are intended to provide ‘just in time’ knowledge and procedures enabling project teams to leverage the information in a BIM to arrive at stage specific deliverables in an efficient, timely manner.
Specific deliverables and tasks are targeted. Examples common to a variety of project types include;

- Space Planning, Conceptual Design and Presentation Drawings
- Code Compliance Drawings, Room Data Sheets and Schedules
- Creating Custom Content (casework, millwork, doors, windows, lighting fixtures etc.)
- Drawing Mark-up and Review, Construction Scheduling and Contract Administration

For a more detailed listing or to discuss requirements specific to your needs please contact Summit Technologies.

Who should take this course?
Architects, architectural technicians, designers, project managers who need to take their essentials knowledge to a higher level. Users and managers who need to understand how to harness the true power of BIM and maximize the benefits of a properly organized and well structured BIM.

Who should not take this course?
The concepts and discussions employed in these session may be beyond the understanding  of users new to Revit and those still unfamiliar with the concepts of BIM and the single model approach to building delivery.

Prerequisites:
To gain the maximum benefit it is suggested that session attendees have some Revit project experience and are currently involved in a project requiring specific deliverables. Some courses are suitable for novice users engaged in specific project tasks and can be effective as stand-alone sessions.

What you should expect after taking this course:
A greater understanding of how the information contained within the BIM can be extracted from the model and presented in a variety of formats with little or no data re-entry. Working smarter and more efficiently by minimizing the need for repetitive and error prone drafting based tasks.

Follow-up:
Continued project mentoring and monitoring of up-coming project deliverable requirements to determine the need for additional focused modules.
