Sustainability is an increasing concern in the building industry. A growing number of tools allow designers to investigate green buliding strategies to minimize environmental impacts.

Autodesk Project Vasari

Autodesk Labs Project Vasari is a technology preview that is built on the Revit platform. The software is primarily focused on conceptual design and interacts with Green Building Studio and Autodesks Climate Server to provide early energy analysis, direct solar radiation, wind rose analysis and satellite imagery to provide valuable feedback at the earliest stages of a project. A major benefit is that it allows the transfer of this early design data into the Autodesk® Revit® platform for BIM, ensuring clear execution of design intent. Training is currently being developed for this software.

Autodesk Ecotect Analysis
Autodesk® Ecotect™ Analysis 2011 software is a comprehensive concept-to-detail sustainable design analysis tool, providing a wide range of simulation and analysis functionality through a desktop platform. Powerful web-based whole-building energy, water, and carbon analysis capabilities converge with desktop tools for visualizing and simulating the performance of a building model within the context of its environment.

Autodesk Green Building Studio
Green Building Studio offers real world geographically-based climate analysis of your design models that relies on Autodesk's Climate Server with access to a vast amount of climate data from around the world. The web-based service allows the rapid iteration of technologies and assemblies to fine tune the performance of a buiding. Green Building Studio also allows exporting into popular energy analysis engineering analysis applications.

Autodesk Revit Architecture / MEP

Revit offers a comprehensive BIM software solution that supports documentation of information that can support CaGBC's LEED certification and others like the International Living Institute's Living Building Challenge. The database nature of Revit is conducive to extracting information and quickly iterating through various design options.
