BIM Implementation Services
Implementation
As you take the leap into a new architectural or engineering technology it is important to realize that you’re changing more than just the tools you use. Most often a change in technology also results in a re-evaluation of and change in your business processes. In order to be successful, you should have a qualified implementation team that encourages your design and construction teams to fully engage and participate in the change.
A Structured Implementation Process
Our implementation team has over six years of experience in successfully implementing BIM and many more years with CAD-based solutions. No matter which technology you’ve chosen, we believe in a structured implementation process that includes:
- A Requirements Assessment - a Summit project manager will review the project with you and begin discussions as to the best method for introducing the technology into your company.
- An Orientation Workshop – while this workshop is optional, in our experience, taking the time to introduce the technology to all participating team members and address any concerns upfront can save a significant amount of time as the implementation progresses.
- Manager’s Training – Partners and project managers typically do not use the actual software on a day-to-day basis. Summit has created a training program specifically to point out the potential of the BIM environment as well as the effects its implementation may have on the firm.
- A Collaboration Workshop – if you have more than one discipline participating in an implementation, this workshop provides insight into best practices for working within a building information model as well as allowing your team to develop collaboration strategies unique to your firm.
- Three levels of training - different members of your team will need varying levels of training as you progress through your implementation.
Essentials Training will provide your team with the basic knowledge to start using the software. On the job, scheduled Mentoring helps address specific issues that arise during the pilot project to eliminate delays related to a lack of software knowledge. In-depth training provides specific team members with more advanced knowledge.
Clients who have chosen this structured implementation approach have found increased levels of success, adherence to project schedules during implementation, more satisfied employees, and increased deliverables even on the pilot project. How closely you follow the implementation process will depend on your firm’s needs.
You’re never alone
No matter how you choose to structure your implementation, we’re committed to ensuring that you receive the maximum benefit from choosing a new technology. So we’ll be there to step-in when you need us, provide immediate feedback to your questions and provide you with expert technical support when you need it.
