Summit to host Building Performance Challenge

Revit can help evaluate the environmental performance of your building.  Submit a model and we will put it through the Ecotect Challenge.  Best performing submissions will win a training session on Ecotect Analysis software and recognition on Summit’s website.  Stay tuned for details.

Ecotect Analysis Demonstrations

In June 2009, Summit held an introduction to Autodesk’s Sustainability toolset at the new Vancouver Convention Centre.  Many of you have asked for further information on the technology, especially Ecotect.

Currently, Summit is doing a number of lunch and learns regarding Ecotect and its involvement in the BIM world.

Autodesk® Ecotect Analysis is a comprehensive conceptual building performance analysis tool that covers a wide range of simulation and analysis functions required to truly understand how a building design will operate and perform. Environmental design principles, such as solar, thermal, lighting, shadows & shading design, energy & building regulations, acoustics, air flow, are most effectively addressed in the early phases of the design process.

With Ecotect Analysis, architects and engineers can work in Revit Building Information Modeling Software, then bring their model into Ecotect to measure how fundamental criteria will affect building performance in the conceptual and detailed phases of design.

If you would like to book a session, please contact Jordon Woodall.

Collaboration Tour and Round-Table

Effective collaboration is the key to success using some of the advanced BIM tools that many design and construction professionals are employing today.  Summit has developed a series of implementation phases that focus on the needs of the different participants in this process.  This process is most successful when applied to all members of the team – be it consultants, builder and/or owner.

Over the next few months, we would like visit with your project team in an informal lunchtime presentation that addresses the needs of you projects and some of the precautions that can best be taken to leverage to potential of your software tools.

Please contact Jordon or Bob to set up a session at your office and best prepare your team for the potential in the BIM model.

In September, we will be following up these informal events with a Collaboration Round Table at which representatives from all participants in the project delivery process will be invited to one event to both inform you and test some of our theories on the application of BIM.  We will be looking for those who understand the potential Return on Investment available from the change in process that awaits those who embrace these new technologies.
